 | We are still here! Update by Ben |
|
Well the new year came and went, and there was little to show. We here at DHC owe you an apology for a few things: a dead forum, a lack of updates, virtually no new content, and a fading presence. All I have to say is it's a good thing we didn't make any New Year's resolutions.
However, it's not all gloom and self-pity now, no. Chin up! Believe me when I say we have a difficult time ahead of us. But if we are to be prepared for it, we must first shed our fear of it. And by that I mean, we're really gonna try to turn things around. Effective today DHC will be starting a new campaign of site-wide cleanup. The first issue is the forum, which due to our fairly persistent bot problem, has prevented many new members from joining and developing our community. So, we will be making an entirely new forum, some time in the next day or two, using phpBB3 from the good guys over at phpBB Group. We hope this will not only revitalize our fan community, but signify DHC's "renewal" as a whole.
Please bear with us as we go through this process. We have a lot of other steps planned, including an advertising campaign and content updates, that should be coming to you throughout February. And with that, I bid you all adieu.
Edit: Two new reviews have also been put up: The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass (brand new) and The Spirit (older and previously unmentioned). Enjoy!

 | Content? On MY DHC? Update by Ben |
That's right ladies and gentlemen, a real, legitimate update. Our good buddy Snarf just finished his newest project entitled "Killin' The Grade" which is also available for viewing and voting on Newgrounds, so go check it out!
In less exciting news, I have been doing some updates on the Doghouse Universal home page to make it a bit more useful and user-friendly. Now you can check out the full list of the comics (hopefully we'll have more to show for this in the near future). Any suggestions for features or ways to improve the look of DHU are welcome on the forum as always. That's it for today. Peace, love, and power to the working class.

 | An update a month keeps the doctor...? Update by Ben |
I'll just leave this here...
On the lack of updates, things have been kind of crazy for us at this time, now that we're all starting to apply to college (SHOCKER: I gave away our ages. Or maybe we just spent several years after high school freeloading in our mothers' basements? A likely possibility). Regardless, things still do happen here at DHC. Behind the scenes. Maybe you'll find out about them in an after-the-fact DVD special feature some years down the road. Pertinent, no?
However, not all of the DHC staff has been entirely lazy. Roberto continues to work dilligently on Epitaph as the prologue winds down. Also, if you haven't been checking the forum, you might want to go back and re-read some of the first few comics, now with a bit of additional text. Anyways, I did eventually write that review for the Dark Knight, although it was never stated on the front page. I suppose since the movie is coming out on DVD soon, it has become unintentionally relevant. Funny how things work out, eh?

 | Eastern Standard Downtime Update by John |
|
So, DHC had recently become host to a trojan, and to protect visitors to the site, the site was voluntarily taken offline late yesterday. With the malicious code deleted, the site is safe once again, and all features have been restored. In the future, should DHC go down again, I advise visiting my developer blog for updates as they come along, and news as to when the site should come back online. We apologize for any inconveniences the trojan may have caused.
In other news, a short cartoon was released before the downtime, but was left unmentioned on the frontpage. You might find it worth a laugh, at the very least, especially if you are a fan of my forum trolling antics posted on the DHC forum.

 | Lies Lies Lies Update by Ben |
Although there is no real immediately new content, there are a number of minor, insignificant updates that have happened over the past month or two that I'm going to compress into one update to make it look like we're being productive.
Starting with the most recent, there's a new movie review up on that page over there for the biggest superhero movie this summer...Hancock! What? That's what you were expecting, right? Actually, I should get around to writing a review of The Dark Knight seeing as I saw it twice and it seems to be the thing on everyone's mind. So, maybe I will. Maybe I won't. You'll just have to keep checking the homepage fervently for updates. Or maybe you won't.
In other news, Epitaph is still goin' strong, so tell all your friends! If there's anything seriously worthwhile that we have to offer at this time, Epitaph is it.
Lastly we have this cool little site search page down in the footer. Although it's been up for a while I can imagine many people didn't notice it because honestly, what reason do you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page? I'll tell you what reason: site search. Damn straight.
Important Note: There have been a few reports of a possible trojan being downloaded via Doghouse Comics. Although we are currently looking into the problem, we suggest anyone who does not have any antivirus software to download Avast! Antivirus or a similar available program and to run a system scan. Thanks for bearing with us.
